The Headless Horsemen was there, but I didn't see Ichabod Crane anywhere, just like the story.....

I traveled to Hamilton, Montana to go Trick or Treating with my grandson, who finally decided that he would be a fierce man-eating shark for Halloween.

We had a great evening.  The temperature was very warm for this time of year and it was so much fun to see hundreds of little kids out in their costumes going from house to house.  In Hamilton, they block off a section of 3rd and 4th streets and the people who live on those two streets go all out decorating their houses.  I heard that each household will give out over 2000 pieces of candy.  It is such a cool way to have a safe place for the kids to go and so much fun.

There were some pretty scary ghosts, ghouls and goblins there.  The shark was a little concerned about this one.  He looked pretty darn scary.

He got a little braver at each house, but wore out before we managed to walk up and down both sides of the two streets.  Grandma was wearing out too.

Showing off his vampire teeth.

Best of all, there was a headless horseman riding up and down the street, cracking his whip.  His whip is supposedly made of the spine of a corpse.    Scares me.

Unfortunately, the horseman did not get close enough to me for a good photo so this is the best I could do.

Saturday we finally had a little snowfall again.  Here's a photo of what I saw on my trip home near Arlee.

The Boys Get Red Bandannas....

Thompson went to the groomers and now looks very handsome, not to mention that the choice of finishing spray cologne was Pumpkin Spice or Sugar Cookie.  Thompson decided he wanted Pumpkin Spice.  Sugar Cookie was just a little too feminine for him.

The sunrise had a little pink this morning,

Raccoon Assault #1.

The raccoons have finally discovered the plums that are left in the top of our tree.  They have been visiting us every night for the past four nights.  On the first night Retired Mountain Man decided he was going to do something about it.

I was the trustworthy assistant whose job was to hold the flashlight and take pictures.

As you can see in the photo, we have a very long stick that we are going to use to prod the raccoons to come down out of the tree.

The raccoons are four very young ones who are totally terrified of the two dogs and the guy with the stick.  They are not about to come down out of the tree.

It wasn't too long before we gave up and went back to the house.  The dogs have not given up though.  They have been barking at them every night.   How could there even be any plums left in the tree?   Four nights and they haven't eaten all of the plums that are left?   These are not very skilled raccoons.

On a happier note, my hanging baskets on the front porch have no idea that it's the middle of October and they should be done blooming.

Two dogs waiting for someone to puh leez -  throw the ball!

Maggie went to the groomers and came home with two goofy pink bows on her head.....  I haven't told Thompson that he is next.  I think the boys get blue bows but I'm not sure.

We picked more grapes and it looks like we have enough green grapes for a carboy of white wine this year.

Finally, the bad news.  It's only a matter of time before the raccoon clan finds the last of the grapes in the arbor.  Oh boy.
