Cabin Fest 2024 and visitors

Cabin Fest day turned out to be another beautiful one with perfect weather.  The food was delicious, the conversations fun and of course, there was the music. It is so wonderful to get to see the toddlers, babies and youngsters enjoying themselves at this event.

It reminds me of all the kids who grew up coming to our Oyster Party in August and also our New Year's Eve gathering.  They were babies and now they're the ones playing the instruments and singing along.

Listening to dad playing his baritone.

Some have already learned to walk.  How can the time go by so quickly?

Lunch was tasty!

I think he might be a drummer and take after his mama.  He was very attracted to the snare drum that Larry was playing.  Get that boy a drum set!

The cabin has a new kitchen and pantry.  All of it meticulously organized.

Mathis and grandad getting ready to play.  I can remember a New Year's Eve Party when Mathis was just over a year old.  He was having a ball walking around the room with a pair of drum sticks in his hands.  Now he plays the trumpet.

George taking part in the sing-a-along.  He's in the Jailhouse Now.   I hope not.

Kristine and Ellie playing along with Rollin' in my Sweet Baby's Arms.

Linda and her beautiful accordion music.

The brass section giving it's all on Sister Kate.

Leslie giving me one of her poses.

Glen doing one of his favorite things, stoking the fire and keeping us all warm.  Cabin Fest is a wrap for 2024!

Cabin Fest was on Sunday.  On Tuesday we had visitors in Bill's new rig!  This winter he's taking it to Arizona for some desert adventures.

Jon, Kermit and Bill enjoyed several hours retelling all of their logging adventures together.  Good memories and great times!   Thanks for stopping by.

September Birthday Celebrations

It's birthday time and celebrations everywhere!  Happy Birthday to my brother Roy, DIL Julie and friend and neighbor, Neil Wimberley.  I am posting some misc. photos of some great memories and wishing them all the best for today and the year ahead.

My brother loves all things fishing and hunting and camping.  Also a big fan of Nebraska and Griz football.

Did I mention that he is my "baby" brother.  The youngest of our five.  He's retired now from Montana Rail Link and now lives near Hobson, Montana.  Somewhere in the middle of nowhere.

Neil Wimberley, musician (both the recorder and the bass guitar).  He loves to go hiking and he loves his Alabama football team.   The best neighbor and friend ever!

Julie is one of the most creative people I know.  She is a very talented artist, cake and cookie baker, and one who celebrates ALL holidays with gusto.  She is always there - for everyone.

She is also adventurous.  It was quite scary to reach the top of this Mayan ruin in Belize.  We were on our Family Cruise in 2006.  To get to the top there were hundreds of very small steps.  Some were on the outside edge of the ruin and there were no handrails and it was a very long way down to the ground if you happened to slip.

This river cruise was one that I'd almost forgotten.   It was a fun day.

Happy Birthday to these wonderful people!  Enjoy your celebrations.
