Raccoon Assault #1.

The raccoons have finally discovered the plums that are left in the top of our tree.  They have been visiting us every night for the past four nights.  On the first night Retired Mountain Man decided he was going to do something about it.

I was the trustworthy assistant whose job was to hold the flashlight and take pictures.

As you can see in the photo, we have a very long stick that we are going to use to prod the raccoons to come down out of the tree.

The raccoons are four very young ones who are totally terrified of the two dogs and the guy with the stick.  They are not about to come down out of the tree.

It wasn't too long before we gave up and went back to the house.  The dogs have not given up though.  They have been barking at them every night.   How could there even be any plums left in the tree?   Four nights and they haven't eaten all of the plums that are left?   These are not very skilled raccoons.

On a happier note, my hanging baskets on the front porch have no idea that it's the middle of October and they should be done blooming.

Two dogs waiting for someone to puh leez -  throw the ball!

Maggie went to the groomers and came home with two goofy pink bows on her head.....  I haven't told Thompson that he is next.  I think the boys get blue bows but I'm not sure.

We picked more grapes and it looks like we have enough green grapes for a carboy of white wine this year.

Finally, the bad news.  It's only a matter of time before the raccoon clan finds the last of the grapes in the arbor.  Oh boy.
