Beautiful haunting melody......

It's still really cold here, there, and everywhere.  Who said we should have winter?

Ruby's Arms by Tom Waits

i will leave behind all of my clothes, i wore when i was with you, all i need's my railroad boots, and my leather jacket, as i say goodbye to ruby's arms, although my heart is breaking,

i will steal away out through your blinds, for soon you will be waking. the morning light has washed your face, and everything is turning blue now, hold on to your pillow case.

there's nothing i can do now, as i say goodbye to ruby's arms, you'll find another soldier, and i swear to god by christmas, there'll be someone else to hold you.

the only thing i'm taking is the scarf off of your clothesline,
i'll hurry past your chest of drawers, and your broken window chimes,
as i say goodbye i'll say goodbye, say goodbye to ruby's arms.

i'll feel my way down the darken hall, and out into the morning, the hobos at the freightyards, have kept their fires burning,

so jesus christ this goddamn rain, will someone put me on a train, i'll never kiss your lips again, or break your heart, as i say goodbye i'll say goodbye, say goodbye to ruby's arms.

It doesn't get much better than this one.

I started out my day by going to the Hope Marketplace Outskirts Cafe to listen to Beth, Bruce and Mark play.  Beth's songs were so beautiful.  What a talented lady!  Click here for a link to her web page.  I love her version of Ticket to Chicago.  Mark added some really nice harmonica to some of the tunes and a little trumpet to others.  The guitar player wasn't too bad either.......(What is his name?)

Then I drove home just in time for the kickoff for the SuperBowl.    The Seahawks were awesome!  I did expect them to win, but I had no idea that it would be a blowout!    We have all waited a long time for this day!

I could not stop taking photos!

You might be wondering just how many photos I could post on my blog?

These are sunrise photos taken on February 1st.

And these are sunset photos from the same day.

I put on my snowshoes and headed for the Underwood's property up the hill.

As you can see, it was starting to get dark when I was on my way back.  I tried to make it to the switchback below their place so that I could take photos of the lake at sunset, but it's slow going for me to break trail going uphill with 12 inches of fresh powder.  I just couldn't make it by sunset.   Now that I have broken the trail most of the way tomorrow I will make another attempt to "reach the peak".

Yes, my Christmas lights are still on.  I leave them on until things start to brighten up in late February.
Now you know why I love my life here so much and also why I no longer have any desire to travel.
I have seen enough of the rest of the world to have figured out where I want to spend my time.  Right here on the mountain.

The most beautiful day on the mountain, ever?

Yesterday ranks right up there with one of the most beautiful days I have ever seen on the mountain.

The snow looked like puffy cotton balls on the trees.

Unfortunately, my camera batteries ran out or there would be even more photos.   When the clouds finally broke, and the sun came out, the snow started falling off the trees.  Then it is too late to get good photos.
