Christmas on the mountain

Our power went out at about 10:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve.  We woke up to another eight inches of fresh snow and no electricity.  Retired Mountain Man and I started up our new generator and plugged in our two freezers and the refrigerator.  It worked really well.  Thank heavens the power came back on at noon and we are back in full operation.

The neighbors are working on plowing our driveway and we heard that three cars are stuck coming up West Spring Creek.  We haven't opened any Christmas gifts yet and we don't plan to go anywhere so we are OK.

I baked Swedish Christmas bread before the power went out.

We have decided to buy a snowblower.

The snowblower purchase will be very soon.

Merry Christmas from Old Cougar Road!

It's happening now.

We got our wish for snow.  We had twelve new inches of snow overnight.    RMM had to walk to the satellite dishes to get the snow off of them.  I think there must be two feet out there.  As you can see in the photo below, the snow is about to start sliding off of the roof.

The chimney cleaners were scheduled to clean out our chimney today, but we had to cancel as we will not have our driveway plowed until late this afternoon.  Yes!  We are snowed in.

We cut down our tree yesterday and I have started decorating it.  It's a little skimpy at the top, but it will have to do.   There's still a nice spot at the top for the blue angel that we have had since our first Christmas.  She still looks good.

It has started snowing again.  Oh boy!  The sled run is going to be awesome this year.

Only 5 Days to go.....

The sun is breaking through the clouds this morning.

I think tomorrow's goal will be to cut down our tree and get it in the house.  Today I will finish wrapping gifts and troubleshoot some of my outdoor Christmas lights.  There's also a Solstice party at the Hope Outskirts Marketplace at 5:00 p.m. to attend and last but not least, the Seahawks are playing at 1:00.

Christmas fun....

....is baking and making up Christmas gifts for everyone.  It was scone baking day yesterday.

Cherry Scones

It was also time to create some little centerpieces and wrap presents.

This all has to be done while listening to my favorite Christmas music.

It was finally time to bottle the Slivovitz (thanks to my friend, Linda, for sharing that recipe with me) and make a final batch of apple jelly.

The best part of all is that it is snowing outside and does look a lot like Christmas.
