Yes, it's smoky, but life continues on the mountain.....

The end of the septic tank story, well almost the end.  We added a something called a "riser" to the top of the tank and then a new lid for the tank.  This will mean that the next time there will be less digging to open up the tank.

We still have to place the sod back on top of the soil and hopefully it will be finished this weekend.

On a much lovelier note, Retired Mountain Man's dahlias are in full bloom.

The Easter Bunny stopped by to visit us and get a little snack.  He said it was a really long time until Easter and he was very hungry.

2015 is probably the best tomato season I have ever seen.

And more tomatoes.....

and more tomatoes....

and a few more tomatoes....

Why I will never leave Hope, Idaho...

.....even when I jokingly say that I am just going to leave and move to California.

You know you are in the right place when your relatives, friends and neighbors show up to help when your septic tank backs up into your basement.  What else would you like to do on a beautiful summer day, but work on someones septic tank.  It's a smelly situation for the most part.

First came Travis along with Cassie and Ellie to help clean up the water in the basement.  Trav located the top to the tank.  When you're our age, you can't remember where your glasses or phone are, let alone the location of the septic tank.

Next came our neighbors, Mike and Theresa with their backhoe to dig out the top of the tank.

Ace Septic Tank Service said they would be here by 5:30 or 6:00 but at 7:15 they hadn't shown up and we had given up hope of fixing the problem when we heard the truck coming down the driveway.

Brian, the driver, was very good at his work and a very nice guy.

I have to say that their was a lot of discussion about sludge and crust and drain fields, etc.   I did learn that I should not use powdered laundry soap, only liquid.

There's more to do today, but for the most part, the problem has been solved.  I am now planning how to cover the area where the tank is so that next time it will be easier to locate and uncover.

Thank you to everyone who helped us out!!
