What if this is as good as it gets?

It's August and the garden is in full swing. The raspberries are ripe and a few veggies are ready to harvest. 



It has been really hot and dry here for the past three weeks so everything is growing like weeds.  I have been getting out in the garden early, before it gets too hot, weeding, watering, fertilizing, pruning, and all the things addicted gardeners do. Is anyone really going to see that weed?

The raspberries taste awesome on top of vanilla ice cream and we have had our first zucchini patties of the year.  There's nothing like cooking with fresh garden fruits and veggies.

 In one week we will be eating the "taste de la resistance", fresh oysters.  Your choice, on the half shell or fried.  We will toss in some steamed clams as an appetizer.  Not to mention all of the delicious potluck dishes that everyone brings to add to the meal.  I can't wait!

We will be enjoying great food, the Cougar Creek Band will play some tunes and we will end the evening with a sing-a-long. (We now have 104 songs in the song book)

It will be as good as it gets!

  2. On the half shell with a little butter and tobasco is the absolute best... tis a sin to fry an oyster. The fact that they are so ugly and slimy is merely a test which upon passing rewards one with an exquisite flavor both rich and delightful beyond compare.
